Obituary for Mary R. Lavella

Mary R.  Lavella
Mary R. Lavella, 87, of New Castle, passed away the evening of December 17, 2017 at Golden Hill Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family. Born on July 8, 1930 in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Komar Hudak. Surviving is her beloved and devoted husband of 66 years, James Lavella Jr., whom she married on June 9, 1951.

In her earlier years, Mary had worked for G.C. Murphy. She was a member of St. Vitus Church. Mary was known as a wonderful cook and baker, and everyone especially loved her lady locks. She also enjoyed keeping her home. Mary will always be remembered as a loving wife and mother who cherished the time she spent with her family.

In addition to her husband, Mary is survived by her children, Jacqueline Babick of New Castle and James Lavella III of Coconut Creek, FL. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Stanley (Sonny) Babick, brothers, John and Steve Hudak, and sister, Margaret Hruska.

Visitation will be held Thursday from 9:30am to 10:30am at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S Mill St. A procession will leave the funeral home Thursday at 10:30am to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am at St. Vitus Church, officiated by Father Frank Almade.

Interment will take place in St. Vitus Cemetery.
