Obituary for Rev. Dr. Cleophus A. Jackson Sr.

Rev. Dr. Cleophus A. Jackson, Sr., 78, of New Castle, passed away the evening of October 20, 2017 at his residence. Born in New Castle on February 27, 1939, Cleophus was the son of the late William and Emma Hambrick Jackson. Surviving is his wife of 45 years, the former Jennie Brown, whom he married on March 17, 1972.

Cleophus retired from his job as supervisor for the Lawrence County Housing Authority after 33 years of working. He also served his country as a member of the U.S. Army. He was a member of Holy Spirit Fellowship Church of Rochester, PA. An ordained minister, Cleophus loved reading the word of God. He also enjoyed playing guitars.

In addition to his wife, Cleophus is survived by his children, Charity Lynn Jackson, Kimberly Donnell and husband Robert, both of New Castle, and Tasha Parker of Columbus, OH; brothers, Leslie Jackson and wife Nilla of Boston, MA and Carl Jackson of Youngstown, OH; sister, Atheldra White of New Castle; ten grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Cleophus Jackson Jr.; daughter, Nellie Boyd; brothers, David Jackson and Sanford Jackson; and sister, Kathleen Stewart.

Visitation will be held Wednesday from 11:00am to 12:00pm at Ebenezer Church of God in Christ 1119 S Jefferson St. Homegoing services will be conducted Wednesday at 12:00pm at the church, conducted by Pastor Avril Vereen.

Interment will take place in Parkside Cemetery.
