Ruth Ann Eckert Cassella, 86, of New Castle, passed away August 4, 2017.

She was born January 6, 1931 in Cowan, West Virginia, to the late Eppa Loring Starcher and Leatha (Crosby) Starcher. She married Robert W. Eckert on November 18, 1949. He died November 26, 1970. She then married Louis S. Cassella on August 19, 1976 and he preceded her in death on December 2, 1985.

Ruth was a member of Christ Lutheran Church. She was employed for twenty five years at the Neshannock Dunkin Donuts. She retired from there at the age of 80.

Ruth is survived by a son, William Eckert of New Castle, three daughters, Karen (Robert) Kern of New Castle; Nancy (Lewis) Brooks of Follansbee, West Virginia; and Bobbie Jean (Gregory) DuBose of Jupiter, Florida; a step-son, Edward (Cindy) Cassella of New Castle; a step-daughter, Barbara Levy of Brandon, Mississippi; her brother, Grant (Sue) Starcher of North East, Maryland; three grandsons, Pietro DiPaolo and Brian DiPaolo of Follansbee, West Virginia and Jackson DuBose of Jupiter, Florida; one granddaughter, Brittany Trushel of Bozeman, Montana; a step-grandson, Brett (Tiffany) Cassella of Monaca, Pennsylvania; and two step-granddaughters, Paige Cassella of New Castle and Amy (Scott) Skelton of Jackson, Mississippi.

In addition to her parents and both husbands, Ruth was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Linda Ann Eckert; a step-son, Richard Cassella; two brothers, Herald Starcher and Joe Starcher and three sisters, Helen Moss, Golda Keefe and Mary Renee Reed.

Visitation is Monday, August 7, 2017, from 2:00PM to 4:00PM and 7:00PM to 9:00PM at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S. Mill St.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00AM at Christ Lutheran Church, 1302 E. Washington St. New Castle, PA with visitation one hour prior to the service. Pastor Sean Walters officiating.

Interment will take place in Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Princeton, PA.
