Obituary for Bernice L. Iorio

Bernice L. Iorio, 79 of Edinburg passed away the afternoon of June 16, 2017 at Allegheny General Hospital.

Born on January 17, 1938 in Butler, PA., Bernice was the daughter of the late Frank and Dorothy Lewis Hartle. Preceding her in death on November 9, 2005 was her husband of over forty eight years, Marion C. Iorio, whom she married on June 8, 1957.

Bernice was a devoted member of St. James the Apostle Church and its Christian Mothers of the church.

Bernice retired from the Mohawk School District where she had worked for thirty five years as a school bus driver. She enjoyed camping, playing computer games and was an avid follower of NASCAR racing. Bernice was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved being surrounded by her family.

She is survived by her two children, Denise Carr and her husband Larry of Edinburg and Cathleen Wimer and her husband Michael of Northern Virginia; her brothers, Frank Hartle, Bernard Hartle, and Gary Hartle, all of New Castle; her sisters, Betty Byers of Saxonburg, PA, Beverly Metzgar of Pulaski, Nancy Metzgar of New Castle, Linda Waddington of Lynchburg, VA, and Sherry Michaels of New Castle; her grandchildren, David Badura, Michael Badura, Aaron Wimer, Mariah Carr, Samantha Carr, Michelle Wimer, and Steven Wimer; and her great-granddaughter, Aubrie.

In addition to her parents and husband, Bernice is preceded in death by her daughter, Donna Iorio Critchlow and her sisters, Infant Sandra Hartle, Bonnie Ray and Barbara Campbell Barker.

Visitation is Monday from 5:00PM to 8:00PM at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home 941 S. Mill St.

A procession will leave the funeral home on Tuesday morning at 9:15AM for St. James the Apostle Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00AM by Rev. Father Michael Peck of St. Camillus Church.

Burial will take place at St. James Cemetery.
