Obituary for Clara Yerage

Clara  Yerage
Clara Yerage was called home to God on the morning of March 1, 2017 at Golden Hills Nursing Home. Born on June 2, 1926 in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late Guiseppe and Louise Izzo Tranquillo. On February 17, 1947, she married her beloved husband, Edward John Yerage Sr., and the two of them spent over 50 wonderful years together until he preceded her in death on August 29, 2009.

Clara was a controller for the Villa Maria Community Center for many years. She graduated from New Castle High School in 1944 and was a devout member of St. Vitus Church. Clara loved to crochet, play cards, spend any time with her family that she could and she loved to cook.

Clara is survived by her children, Linda Hermann and her husband Dolph Hermann, Edward Yerage Jr., and John Yerage and his wife MaryAnn Yerage; brother, Salvatore “Sam” Tranquillo; 4 grandchildren: Alissa Hermann Sgro and her husband Bruce Sgro, Kimberlee Hermann Kaercher, Edward L. Yerage and his wife CJ Yerage, and Amanda Yerage; and 6 great-grandchildren: Nina Sgro, Angela Sgro, Dominic Sgro, Sam Kaercher, Clare Kaercher, and Samantha Yerage. Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, James and Carl Tranquillo.

Visitation will be held Friday from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S Mill St. A procession will leave DeCarbo’s Saturday at 10:30am to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am at St. Vitus Church, officiated by Father James Downs.

Entombment will take place in Resurrection Mausoleum.
