Jean D. (Dolly) Zona, 85, of New Castle, passed away the morning of February 23, 2017 at UPMC Jameson Hospital. Born on September 10, 1931 in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late Pasquale and Anna D’Agosta Zona.

Jean retired in 1995 after working as a cashier for G.C. Murphy Company for 42 years. She was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Church, and she also belonged to A.A.R.P. Jean enjoyed playing bingo, reading, and spending time with all of her nieces and nephews. She also loved to spend time with her friends at Riverside and their monthly luncheons.

Jean is survived by her nieces, Patricia Demko, Jeannette Rasey, Cheryl Vanasco, Christine Zona, Frances (Mickie) Burrus, and Anna Marie Hall; nephews, Charles (Buddy) Pecarro, Joseph Pecarro, John Zona, Patrick Zona, and Joshua Zona; many great-nieces and great-nephews; and two great-great-nieces. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Anna Zona, Jennie Zona, Mary Pecarro, and Lena Zona; brothers, Ralph, John, Frank, Joseph, and Michael Zona; niece, Jo Ann Zona; and nephew, Ralph Pecarro Jr.

Visitation will be held Monday from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S Mill St. A procession will leave the funeral home Tuesday at 10:00am to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30am at St. Joseph the Worker Church, officiated by Father Frank Almade.

Entombment will take place in Resurrection Mausoleum.
