Obituary for John Isabella Jr.

John  Isabella Jr.
John Isabella, Jr., 85, of Hillsville, PA passed away the evening of August 19, 2014 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital. Born on February 2, 1929 in New Castle, he is the son of the late John Sr. and Lena Ferrente Isabella. Surviving him at home is his beloved wife of 38 years, the former Bonita Micco, whom he married August 23, 1975.

In his earlier years, John worked as a blaster for Van Port Stone Company, and he then later retired from Medusa Cement Corporation. John was a member of Christ the King Parish. He served his country as a member of the U.S. Army. John belonged to the Chewton Polish Club. He enjoyed gardening and was a Pirates and Steelers fan. His greatest joy came from spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, John is survived by his children, John M. Isabella of Swansea, IL, Anthony (Tony) Isabella of Boardman, OH, Shelly Isabella of Boardman, OH, and Dana Cumberledge of Edinburg, PA; brothers, Robert Isabella of Chewton, PA and James Isabella of Hollywood, FL; sisters, Florence Newman of West Pittsburg, PA and Jane Schena of Toledo, OH; and five grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Joseph and Frances (Squire) Isabella.

Visitation will be held Friday from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 3000 Wilmington Rd.

The New Castle Area Honor Guard will conduct military rites Saturday at 9:30am at the funeral home. A procession will leave the funeral home Saturday at 9:45am to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Lawrence Church at 10:30am, officiated by Father James Downs.
