Obituary for Alexander Kraner

Alexander Kraner, 83, of New Castle, passed away the evening of October 2, 2016 at UPMC Jameson Hospital. He was born on February 16, 1933 in Pittsburgh, PA. Preceding him in death were his parents, Henry and Bertha Kraner.

Alexander had previously worked as an electronics engineer for Singer Corporation, and he later owned several automotive stations in Connecticut until returning to New Castle. He also served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Era. An avid fan of the arts and theater, Alexander was an active member of the New Castle Playhouse as a volunteer and actor. He was a graduate of Shenango High School and Penn State University, and he always enjoyed reconnecting with his high school classmates for their monthly breakfasts. Alexander loved classic cars and spending time with his dog, Simba.

Alexander is survived by his sister, Dorothy Maslyk of Alaska, sisters-in-law, Mary Dmetruk and Barbara Kraner, brother-in-law, Bill Lippman, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Steve Dmetruk, Henry Kraner, and William Kraner, and sister, Anna Mae Lippman.

Memorial services will be conducted Thursday at 11:00am at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 3000 Wilmington Rd, officiated by Father William Siple.

Memorial contributions may be made in Alexander's honor to LIFE Lawrence County 2911 West State St, New Castle, PA 16101.
