Obituary for Carmel F. Nocera

Carmel F.  Nocera
Carmel F. Nocera, 88, of New Castle, passed away the morning of October 18, 2015 at her residence. Born on September 16, 1927 in Youngstown, OH, she was the daughter of the late Vito D. and Elizabeth L. Flauto Vitelli. On June 7, 1947, she married her beloved husband, Carmen Anthony Nocera, and the two spent over 67 wonderful years together until he preceded her in death on March 21, 2015.

Carmel previously had worked as a finisher for Shenango Pottery, and she had also worked at the Lawrence County Court House for the Recount Board. She was a member of St. Vitus Church. For years, Carmel had served as a Republican Committee Person.

Carmel is survived by her children, Betty Ahlswede and husband Edward of Boardman, OH, Vita Nocera of New Castle, and Carmen T. Nocera and wife Lisa of Poland, OH; grandchildren, Lisa Kelso, Laura Cummings, Jennifer Chernushin, Richard Avery, Ashley Avery, Christofer Avery, Carmen Nocera Jr., and Brielle Nocera; and four great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph Woods, and sister, Virginia Beach.

Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S Mill St. Blessing services will be conducted Tuesday at 7:00pm at the funeral home, officiated by Father Frank Almade, pastor of St. Vitus Church.

Entombment will take place in Parkside Mausoleum.
