Obituary for Angelo Nocera Sr.

Angelo  Nocera Sr.
Angelo Nocera, Sr., 92, of New Castle passed away the morning of July 11, 2015 at Jameson Hospital.

Born in West Pittsburg on April 11, 1923, Angelo was the son of the late Alessandro and Assunta Cialella Nocera. Surviving at home is his loving and devoted wife of seventy two years, the former Katherine Ciallella, whom he married on July 23, 1942.

He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Church.

Angelo was a car inspector for the B&O CXL Railroad and retired after forty two years of service. In his youth, Angelo was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corp. Angelo was a WWII veteran, a Korean War Veteran and a member of the National Guard, serving in the European Theatre and 229th Field Artillery where he received numerous medals and citations. Angelo was the past Commander of the New Castle Police Auxiliary for twenty four years; past President of the CCC Chapter 125 for twenty one years; served on the board of directors for First Choice Credit Union and was a member of the VFW Post 315, the Italian American War Veterans and the American Legion Post 343.

Angelo was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be sadly missed by all his family and friends.

In addition to his wife, Angelo is survived by two children, his daughter, Antonette Casey and her husband Pete of Buffalo, NY; his son, Angelo Nocera, Jr. and his wife Veda of Westerville, OH; his brother, Anthony Nocera of Anaheim, CA; his best buddy and brother-in-law, Anthony Ciallella of New Castle; eight grandchildren, Nicholas (Lisa) Padovano; Christopher (Claudia) Padovano, Darrin (Sandra) Padovano, Toni Marie Petrillo, Christian Nocera, Krista (Connor) ONeill, Cliff (Kami) Mathews, Wes (Lori) Mathews; eighteen great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and three sisters, Beatrice Kuchynka, Mary Jane Perrotta and Pauline Nocera.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5:00PM to 8:00PM at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S. Mill St.

A procession will leave the funeral home on Wednesday morning at 9:30AM for St. Joseph the Worker Church where a Mass of Christian will be celebrated at 10:00AM officiated by Rev. Father William Siple.

Interment with military honors by the New Castle Area Honor Guard will follow in St. Vitus Cemetery.
