Fred A. "Speedy"  Natale
Fred A. “Speedy” Natale, 93, of Ashberry Lane, passed away the morning of March 13, 2015 at Jameson Memorial Hospital. Born on July 11, 1921 in New Castle, he was the son of the late Alex P. and Clara Nocera Natale. Surviving at home is his beloved wife of 41 years, the former Rosemarie Coiro, in November 17, 1973.

Fred worked as a lathe operator and union steward for Johnson Bronze until its closing in 1981. A lifelong member of St. Vitus Church, he was named Holy Name Man of the Year 1985 and served as an altar server and usher. He also was one of the founders of the St. Vitus Festival and was co-chair for over 17 years. He was a 4th degree Knight of Columbus. In 1950, Fred joined GNC Credit Union as a director when it was the Johnson Bronze Employees Federal Credit Union and was the president for 60 years. He spearheaded the initiative to change the Johnson Bronze Credit Union to the Community Credit Union on November 10, 1980. Fred was a charter member of Shenango Valley Chapter of the League, which he helped to organize. He also served as chapter director, president, and vice-president and helped organize four credit unions and charter one. Fred loved to spend time with his wife and family. He loved to bowl, follow the New Castle Red Hurricane teams, and attend shows at the Celebrity Series at Westminster College. He loved big band music and dancing.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sister, Rita Germani of New Castle, and his nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Alex Natale, Jr.

Visitation will be held Sunday from 3:00pm to 7:00pm at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S Mill St. A procession will leave the funeral home Monday at 9:30am to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am at St. Vitus Church, officiated by Reverend Frank Almade.

Entombment will take place at Resurrection Mausoleum.
