Obituary for Michael A. "Mickey" Natale Sr.

Michael A. (Mickey) Natale, Sr., 84, of New Castle passed away peacefully the evening of May 18, 2013 at his residence.

He was born November 23, 1928 in New Castle and was the son of the late Frank A. (Tony) and Joana Barone Cea Natale. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, the former Caroline Rozzi whom he married on August 17, 1951.

Mr. Natale was a United States Army veteran and served in Fort Ord in California during the Korean War. After 30 years of service, he retired from the US Postal Service as the Postmaster for the Ellwood City branch. During his career at the US Postal Service he helped a lot of people and had many different positions including Personnel Director.

Mickey was a member of the AFMU Local 27 and served as a past president and as a past treasurer. He was also a member of the Italian American Defamation League (IADL) and a member of and former officer of the local chapter. He was a member of St. Vitus Church.

Mr. Natale was a pianist and was a member of the Mickey Natale Trio and The Fun Bunch along with several other jazz bands. He was an avid sports fan and coached pop warner football. He especially was a fan of the Pittsburgh sports teams and enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates, Penguins and the Pitt Panthers.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his four children, Margie Ryan and husband Fred, Julie "Ju-Ju" DeLillo and husband Donald "Dude", Michael Natale, Jr. and wife Diana and Jana Natale all of New Castle; seven grandchildren; Tony Miller and wife Kristie, Bobbie Lynn Girman and husband Jason, Mark Ryan, Richie Ryan and wife Michelle, Leigh Ann DeCristoforo and husband Sean, Brittany Natale and Michael Natale III and ten great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas Natale, Sr. and Eugene Natale and a sister, Irene Leitera.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 3:00 PM - 8:00 PM at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 941 S. Mill Street. A mass of christian burial will be celebrated by Father William Siple on Wednesday at 12:30 PM at St. Vitus Church. A procession will leave the funeral home at 12:00 Noon for church.

Interment will be in Parkside Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the New Castle Area Honor Guard on Wednesday at the cemetery.
