Former Rhodes Estates resident, Philomena L. Karpa, 91, passed away the evening of August 13, 2012 in Jameson Hospital.

She was born January 24, 1921 in Pittsburgh, PA and was the daughter of the late Frank and Elizabeth Marino Sarcone. She married her husband, the late T. Frank Karpa in 1941. He preceded her in death September 20, 1983.

Mrs. Karpa was a homemaker. She was a member of the American Legion #538 Woman's Auxiliary in Pittsburgh. She was also a volunteer and very active at the Oakland Veteran's Hospital in Pittsburgh. Philomena was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed the time she spent with her family, especially with her grandson and great granddaughter.

She is survived by one daughter, Betty Ann DiMuccio and husband Edward of New Castle; a grandson, Justin DiMuccio and wife Jeanette and a great granddaughter, Maria.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister and one brother.

The family will receive friends and family on Thursday from 12:00 Noon - 1:00 PM at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 3000 Wilmington Road.

A blessing service will be conducted Thursday at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Father Nicholas Vaskov of St. Vitus Church will officiate. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Pittsburgh.
