Obituary for Tony S. Nocera

Tony S.  Nocera
Former Mahoningtown and Lewes, Delaware resident, Tony S. Nocera, 91, passed away at his daughters residence in New Castle the morning of April 4, 2012.

Born in New Castle on November 14, 1920, Tony was the son of the late Bernadino and Anna Offi Nocera. Preceding him in death in 1999 is his wife the former Jennie Domenick, whom he married on May 2, 1946.

Tony was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Parish.

He was a U.S. Army veteran and served during WWII. Tony retired from Pittsburgh and Lake Erie Railroad where he worked as a mechanic and brakeman. Tony was known as a great storyteller, for making homemade wine and enjoyed playing his self-taught harmonica. Tony loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. Tony was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and was a role model for his family. His family was most important to him and he cherished the all the times that were spent together with them.

He is survived by two daughters, Kathleen Ferrese and husband Gregory of Lewes, Delaware; Anna Cardella of New Castle and four grandchildren, Renee Sipple, Anthony Ferrese, Vincent Cardella and Christopher Cardella.

In addition to his parents and wife, Tony is preceded in death by his brother, Angelo Nocera, four sisters, Emma Dattilo, Helen Cubellis, Mabel Natale, Pauline Morella and a nephew, Bishop Nicholas Dattilo.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 9:00AM to 10:00AM at St. Vincent de Paul Church.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00AM at the church. Rev. Father Sean Francis will officiate.

Interment will take place at St. Lucy Cemetery. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform military rites at the cemetery.
