Virginia E. "Genie"  Kuhn (Pfahles)
New Castle native Virginia Kuhn was peacefully called Home to eternal rest on December 2, 2011 at 4:35 p.m. after a brief illness, in which she was surrounded by her loving husband and children at her bedside in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA.

Virginia was born April 19, 1932 in New Castle, PA, the daughter of the late Andrew and Marie (McNamara) Pfahles. Virginia leaves her devoted husband and partner in life, Paul F. Kuhn of 56 years whom she married August 13, 1955.

Virginia was a graduate of New Castle High School in 1950. She was a homemaker.

Virginia's Catholic faith was central to her life and daily living and always displayed this to her family. She was a member of St. James the Apostle Parish in New Bedford, PA and a member of the church's Christian Women's Organization.

She loved talking and listening to everyone she met and prayed for them daily. She was loved for her sincere warmth and kindness to all who knew her. Virginia enjoyed reading and cooking. Virginia enjoyed extended and daily bus trips with her husband and close friends. She especially loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Her fondest memories were family vacations with her husband, children and grandchildren to Disney and Atlantic City.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by four children, Maureen Kuhn of Edinburg, Roger Kuhn of New Wilmington, Brian Kuhn of Edinburg and Brenda Trombitas of Edinburg; two grandchildren whom she loved dearly Ann and Garret Kuhn of New Wilmington; a sister, Katherine (Tuddy) Melnick of Austintown, OH; two brothers, Tom Pfahles and wife Phyllis of New Castle, PA and Billy Pfahles of New Castle, PA and many nieces and nephews.

Beside her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Fred, Phillip and Andrew (Brother) Pfahles.

Those who wish to celebrate Virginia's life will be received from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM Monday, December 5, 2011 at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 3000 Wilmington Road, New Castle, PA.

A procession will leave the funeral home at 9:45 AM on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 for a mass of christian burial at 10:30 AM at St. James the Apostle Parish, New Bedford, PA. Mass will be celebrated by Reverend James Downs and Reverend John Rebel. Interment will be at St. James the Apostle Cemetery.
